Anchor Bowmen would like to express their thanks to Colin Mills for his kind equipment donation. The donated re-curve and compound equipment will help to bolster our equipment library, helping new archers sample different forms of the sport before committing to their own equipment purchases.

Thanks Colin

Thanks to the Magnificent 7 (Meg, Mo, Dave, Andy, Wendy, Chris and Harry) who gave up their entire Sunday (including missing the league shoot) to run 5 hours of have a go sessions at Elvaston Castle today.

The weather was abnormally perfect, warm enough for shirt sleeves without dehydration.

Traffic was slow but steady through the afternoon and we managed to get 58 people the chance to shoot. Not as many as we had hoped for but a surprisingly large number were very interested in moving onto a beginners course and had not been aware of the club before today.

We raised £121 for TreeTops which contributes to the near £20,000 they believe they raised today (mostly from the entries for the colour rush itself).

Anyway thanks again team, you deserve the glass of wine tonight (except Harry of course as alcohol is a terrible old persons habit you should avoid at all cost).

ABAC will once again be helping raise funds for Treetops Hospice at their "Colour Rush and Family Fun Day" which is being held at Elvaston Castle Country Park, Derby on Sun 11th September (11am - 5pm).
Blog imageYou don't have to take part in the Colour Rush run itself, just come along and join the spectacle...and maybe try your hand at "shooting a few golds" too.

Blog imageDerbyshire won the inter-counties compound team "Bingham Ceramics" trophy on Sunday at Southwell. Elliott put on an impressive show in his first ever compound competition with a borrowed bow and a couple of weeks practice to help the county team win by just 3 points.

Lewis shot an amazing 1216 to win the EMAS Junior Intercounties Gentleman Recurve Highest Score trophy.

Congratulations to Elliot & Lewis on their achievements at the Junior National Champs. The event was held over the weekend of 2-3 July & was the biggest ever. With over 330 of GB's best young archers, across all disciplines, shooting it out across 91 was quite a spectacle!

Blog imageBlog imageBlog imageSaturday was Metrics day and Elliot, shooting a Metric I for the first time, scored 1001 which place him 20th in a very competitive field. Lewis, shooting a Metric III, scored a massive 1249, placing him 2nd & winning him a silver medal.

The Bristol rounds were on Sunday. Elliot came in 15th, with 1020 for a Bristol I & Lewis, shooting the Bristol III, was eventually placed 4th.
